This concept, was supported with the core research of the Wellcome Collection, to create a collection based on a disability. This research informed a new way of thinking, specific to an often neglected consumer market. Consumers with disabilities, or with restricted movement are an important market sector, but their needs, both practical and aesthetic are often neglected. Born of thorough and appropriate research, this collection seeks to aid physical disabilities such as orthopaedic issues. Using initial inspiration of architectural shapes to provide physical reconstruction /support to and of the body, via conceptual design: the relationship between art and the body was explored. A complex understanding of body deformities, body support, body extensions and sculpture informed a restricted yet supportive and utilitarian silhouette.
